EP. 43 Practicing Spiritual Disciplines In Counseling: Accountable Relationships
In this episode, the hosts, Mike, Shauna, and Jeremy, discuss the imperative reality of counselee's having accountable relationships in the local church context. More often than not, those we counsel don't have any accountable relationships in their life that are able to examine their life, hold them accountable to godly decisions, and as a result, end up struggling to effectively work through whatever brokenness is plaguing them. As counselors, we need to make sure we're making accountable relationships apart of encouragement to those we counsel.
Episode Notes:
◎ Not doing life with one another is all too often the case with most of the believers.
◎ Heb. 10:23-25
◎ Are there believers in our life that have the right to examine our life; when we’re with counselee’s, we want to gather enough data to make sure we know what the reality is of our counselee’s relational church-life.
◎ we need people in our lives who will speak to what we need to hear rather than what we want to hear.
◎ we need to encourage our counselee’s to find someone who can come into the counseling room with them if those they choose will walk with them outside the counseling room.
◎ being persecuted isn’t always provoked by others, but it's saying no to things of this world that don't promote spiritual growth.
◎ What do our counselee’s need to say no to so they’ll be spiritually fit to promote their relationships, both vertically and horizontally.
